Sugar

Sugar is a 3 year old Appaloosa Pinto Mare. She began her therapy work at 18 months old quite by accident. Cindy was at a facility for Developmentally Disadvantaged Adults. She was using one of her other horses who started to act up, which can happen at times, so she thought “well let’s see what Sugar can do”. This was her first exposure to therapy work and the clients could be quite loud and they loved to physically touch the horse all over very quickly.

Sugar absolutely loved them. She stood still the whole time as they were yelling and screaming with delight. They were touching her all over from head to toe, she didn’t flinch. This was her maiden therapy session and she was a superstar. This is still her favorite facility and she just knows what is needed each and every time and she loves it.

When Jim and I went to Cindy’s farm for the first time and met Sugar she made immediate eye contact with me. You could tell instantly how sweet she was. She came up to me and let me pet her. It was so emotional for me and made me cry because I don’t know if I’ve ever felt such unconditional love from an animal and I was a complete stranger to her. She is very special and we are so blessed to have her at the farm. This work is her life and she naturally shows that in everything she does.
